I am not sure, if my question has the right place here in Tillbehör:

As I know it excists several kind of Numberplates in Sweden. What I want to know is, how did the Numberplate look in 1963 (plus some years) in Umea?

It would be great if you can put a picture in your answer, after this I want to ask where I can rebuild two plates?

The first and only number was AHR 217.

before 1973 we have numbersplates with one letter for "Län" http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C3%A4nsbokstav and number.

from 1973-> the plate follows the car to new owner

Your plate began with the letters AC and a number. Plates were standard in metal and letters could be bougth at any gasstation. Not any problem to change plates in those days... Letters were made of plastic and are easy to find at any veteran market

Make a google picture search " gamla nummerskyltar" or " gamla nummerplåtar" and you will find a lot of examples. Letters made of metal are at least 10 years older than your car.

Denna skylt jag har hittat, och det är en av de 60-talet?

That one is correct. Numbers are easy to change to correct ones when plates are found.

Plates were not made after one specific standard, allthough there were regulations
regarding approximate size and letterings. In the old days You recieved
a licensenumber and whent to the hardwarestore (or similar) and purchased
a blind plate and the letters required to obtain correct plates.
If You didn´t feel like having the trouble of making them on Your own most stores
delivered that kind of service for You.
Some owners even invested in casted or enameled plates, which were more costly.
If the car later was sold to another area, with another areacode (letters), the licenseplates
had to be replaced.

If You go to a swapmeet in Sweden You are most likely to come across letters and blank plates,
since there were numerous suppliers spread around the country.

Hej Blomquist, thank you for the informations.
I think that it would be succesfull to get them on the swedish markets. I will try to find a PV-Entusiaten who is often on those markets to get two similar numberplates and letters/numbers, perhaps I am lucky. Unfortunatly I cannot visit the home of my PV this year . . .

Create a acount on the swedisch site " tradera.se". It is connected to ebay and in a couple of weeks you will have all you need. There are 2 new plates for about 50 sek and number will not cost more than 20 sek/ pc.

yes, I am already member in tradera. And I found one plate (but only one

) I like.

I think it will be very difficult to find two equal plates. Because there were many in different sizes and "design",isn't it?

And I'm afraid to get "AC 22177" twice out of one production in tradera - if I am right there were in former times lot of different letter- and number-design on the market?
